Turnov District Town and gateway to Czech Paradise. Our trips usually start here for those interested in precious and semi precious stones. Certainly Turnov can claim this above any other Czech Town, as it has historically been known for the Garnet and Agats that are found here, and it has a long tradition of manufacturing jewelry. On weekdays it is also possible to tour the Cesky Granat factory (optional 250Kc/person), or visit the factory store. The local museum also has a great exhibit of folk crafts and costumes from the 18th and 19th century, and of course precious stones.
Prachovské Skály After about a 1 hour hike we will be in the center of the Sandstone towers that have made this particular area near and dear to the hearts of so many generations of Czech children and adults alike. It is a veritable playground for people who love the outdoors, with opportunities for camping, swimming, and climbing. Our trip will be along a well maintained trail that will take us down into the deep crevasses, and to the top of several towers. Proper hiking apparel and shoes are necessary, and participants should be prepared for a good workout in nature.
