PATHWAYS Through Central Europe

The Hostýn Hills Natural Protected Zone
By request (2days/1 night) April - Oct. - 4950 Kč Per Person
Enjoy the Beauty of Mountain Meadows where Wild Orchids Bloom

Here, in the mystical forests of central Moravia's Hostyn Hills, you can journey through valleys guarded by sleepy ruins, and historic battle fields which have turned to mountain meadows. If you listen closely, you may also hear the foxes saying "dobrou noc".

Program
Depart from Prague early on Saturday (pick up at your hotel), and transfer via Kroměříž (Unesco World Heritage Site) to Bystřice pod Hostýnem, where we will set out after a picnic lunch and bicycle to Brusné. After arriving at our destination, it will be possible to take a refreshing swim at a nearby pool, or to explore the wooded surroundings. There are an abundance of scenic country roads and well marked hiking trails here, but participants should be prepared for hilly terrain.

Accommodation

This weekend's lodging will be in a small Inn made from a 15th century water mill. It's extraordinary charm comes from it's individually named rooms (each with their own unique characteristic). In addition, the dining area is reminiscent of traditional Czech "Country Kitchen" from days long gone. Bring your appetite and a thirst for a lively evening.

Hostýn

The well known pilgrimage site with a beautiful baroque church and the remains of a prehistoric settlement. In the 13th century many lives were miraculously saved here from the Tatar invasion. Thus, many people still believe these hills have mysterious and supernatural powers, protecting those who visit here. This is now protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Větrák

Right above the village Štípa, you may be surprised to find a wind mill built in 1858. Although it appears unusual in these surroundings, it has been preserved as a museum, complete with the mill keepers house and tools. Certainly, it is not what you might expect while wandering through these hills, and it conjures images of Cervantes' Spain.
